Why use work gloves?

A glove is a type of garment used to cover the hands. They have separate openings to fit the fingers and the thumb. There are also gloves that are made with an opening so that there is no covering for each finger, in which they are called "fingerless gloves". Fingerless gloves with one large opening rather than individual openings for each fingers are sometimes called gauntlets. Gloves that cover the entire hand but does not have a sheath for each opening is called a mitten.

Gloves can serve to protect and comfort the hands against many things such as the weather, physical damage by too much friction, chemicals, disease and other things that can harm the bare hands. Gloves generally guard the hands from things that it cannot touch if it was bared. For example, health care professionals usually use latex, nitrile or vinyl disposable gloves for hygiene and contamination protection measurements.

Fingerless gloves usage usually occur in cold environments that would restrict a person from doing things that are needed if a regular glove is used. This is because dexterity would be needed and regular gloves limit that factor. Therefore, to protect the wearer from the elements but still have the dexterity to do the required work, they use a fingerless glove. Some examples of fingerless glove users include cigarette smokers and church organists. In some cases, gloves will include a gauntlet that extends partway up the arm.

Gloves have been made of many materials some of which include cloth, knitted or felted wool, leather, rubber, latex, and metal such as chain mails.

Today gloves are made plentiful worldwide.
